Terms of Service

This is a draft policy for the prototype. Final text is being reviewed by a Greek lawyer and will be updated before public launch.

1. The service

Collectiva is a subscription donation platform. Donors set a monthly amount and allocate it across verified non-profit organizations. Organizations receive monthly payouts by allocation percentage, net of Stripe processing fees.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally resident in the EU to open a donor account. Organizations must be a registered non-profit in Greece or another EU member state.

3. Donor terms

  • Your monthly amount is charged on the 1st of each month.
  • You may pause, change, or cancel your subscription at any time.
  • Allocations must total 100% across selected organizations. Changes take effect on the next billing cycle.
  • You receive an annual consolidated tax statement showing each organization and the amount donated.

4. Organization terms

  • You must maintain legal registration and complete KYC with Stripe Connect to receive payouts.
  • You must publish concrete funding goals and file an impact report within 30 days of a goal being funded.
  • Missing reports move your account to “warning” standing; held funds remain held and new distributions are paused until the report is filed.
  • Collectiva reserves the right to suspend or remove organizations that engage in fraud or fail repeated compliance checks.

5. Fees

Collectiva takes 0% of your donation. Stripe processing fees apply (approximately 1.4% + €0.25 per EU card transaction) and are deducted from the gross donation before split-disbursement.

6. Refunds and disputes

Refunds may be issued within 14 days of a charge if requested in writing and if the corresponding distribution has not yet been paid out to the organization. After payout, refund requests must go through the dispute process with Stripe.

7. Escrow hold

Distributions are held in escrow for up to 7 days pending automated and manual compliance checks on the receiving organization.

8. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts for fraud, violation of these terms, or failure to pass compliance checks. Financial records are retained per applicable law.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Collectiva’s liability is limited to the fees paid to us in the preceding twelve months (which, given our 0% platform fee, is typically zero).

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Greece. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Athens, except where EU consumer law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
